iPad Box Office
Sell tickets at the Box Office using an iPad, Square Stand, and additional accessories.
A traditional box office setup is a great way to speed up sales for your haunted attraction. This setup is normally fixed in place and used in a "walk up window" staffed by a member of the ticket sales team.
Required Hardware
In order to set up a traditional box office, you'll need a Square Stand and a compatible iPad. Both can be found on Amazon, or you can use ones you already own:
Square Stand ($125)
iPad A16 ($320)
If you'll be scanning with your Square Stand it is highly recommended to get a Zebra Scanner (or Bluetooth Scanner).
Optional Receipt Printer & Cash Drawer
Optional Square Reader for Magstripe ($10)
This is only a requirement if you believe you'll have to take credit card payments by "swipe" instead of chip or contactless. These are widely phased out but for $10 you could keep one around just in case.
Setup
To complete set up, you'll need to have already connected your Square merchant account in the ScaryGood Dashboard.
The first step is installing the ScaryGood Box Office app from the iOS App Store. After you install it, you'll need to log in with the same email and password that you use for the Dashboard.
Download the iOS AppAfter installing, you'll be guided through the initial setup right in the app.
Your Square Stand should work automatically, but you may need to remove your iPad from the Square Stand and put it back in. If you ever encounter an issue with the Square Stand not being found, you should try this.
Connecting Square Hardware
Your Square Stand should be detected automatically, but if it isn't, go to the Settings page of the Box Office App and open Square Settings from there.
Physical Scanners
If you'll also be scanning tickets at your traditional box office, it is highly recommended that you get a physical barcode scanner for the iPad. Since the Square Stand blocks the rear camera you'll have to use the front facing camera which can be a pain.
While the box office app works with any bluetooth scanner that supports HID keyboard mode, we recommend you get a Zebra Scanner for the best experience. Learn more about each here:
